Wedding Budget Allocation Advice | Arden Photography

Weddings are NOT cheap… and it’s really easy to get caught up in the excitement and joy that comes from planning wedding festivities. Although it would be beyond amazing if we could all get exactly what we want for our wedding; most times, finances have to be compromised to include certain aspects of your wedding. Below are some tips and an approximation of where you can allocate your wedding funds.

Helpful Tips:

  • Set your wedding budget before you start spending. This will help define where your funds are allocated and can help prevent too much overspending.
  • Create a wedding spreadsheet. A spreadsheet will help you: divvy up where funds will be spent, keep you organized so you know exactly where money is being put, and track how much is spent in totality.
  • Figure out who will be contributing to your wedding budget. Is it just you as a couple? Are parents helping out? Are friends contributing? Figuring this out will also help you know what your max budget is.
  • Look out for any hidden wedding expenses. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the ‘big’ features of your wedding, but also pay attention to other possible expenses like: taxes, tips, and wedding insurance/licenses.

Budget Allocation Sample:

  • Venue, Catering & Cake: 40 %
  • Florals & Décor: 20 %
  • Photography & Videography: 12 %
  • Entertainment: 10 %
  • Fashion & Beauty: 10 %
  • Transportation: 3 %
  • Stationery: 3 %
  • Favors: 2 %

Obviously this isn’t “Bible,” if there are certain aspects of your wedding you want to accentuate more so than others, just relocate percentages where you see fit. After all, your wedding is for you and your significant other, so make it fun, breathe, and everything always works out in the end.
